WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?
When it comes to storage buildings, not
all buildings are assembled the same. Knowing how
your building is constructed is very important. Through the next several paragraphs I will explain the major differences between
a Loft It Up Building and the Competition. Starting with the floor assembly we use 2” x 6” or 2” x
8” pressure treated floor joists spaced 16” on-center in all of our buildings. Compared to our prefabricated
competition which uses 2” x 4” floor joists. The floor decking is pressure treated with ½” or
¾” plywood, depending on your need. The floor will receive the most abuse and must be built to hold the
load and last. Walking into your storage building you want adequate headroom. Most storage buildings only offer
limited clearance. All of our buildings have an 8’ ceiling height, and a 6’8” door opening.
Furthermore,
strong walls are the framework for a sturdy building. Our buildings are built to handle shelves, lofts and many types
of hanging tools. With studs spaced 16” on-center instead of 24” on-center, our double top plated exterior
walls will stand the test.
Is building appearance important to you? Having an attractive building on your property can only increase the value and
resale of your home. We use the latest technology in wood siding. Unlike metal which will dent, ding and rust over
time, and pressure treated siding which turns gray, splits, cracks and warps. We use a material produced by LP Products
which is guaranteed not to warp, split, crack, dent, ding and obviously will not rust. Don’t forget we paint your
building any color you want. Most storage buildings come unpainted or only in a few colors.
As we work our way to the roof you will notice overhangs on all four sides. The importance of overhangs is to keep as
much water away from your building as possible. The majority of our competitors only have overhangs at the eaves, not
on all four sides. Another necessity in all storage buildings is proper ventilation. The combination of soffit vents
and gable vents keeps the air circulating and your building cooler in those summer months. Other issues concerning ventilation
are those caused from stagnant air filled with gas fumes from lawn equipment, fuel tanks and other gas powered machinery.
This trapped air can be harmful. Other issues that arise from poor ventilation is the restriction of hot air which in
time will damage your shingles . A Loft It Up Building will come with eight total vents, six soffit vents and two gable vents.
Ventilation will not be a problem in our buildings.
A standard in roofing construction today is the application of felt underlayment. Though most storage buildings rarely use
this material, for a Loft It Up Building we consider this a must use roofing product. This underlayment adds extra protection
for the roof decking and keeps the shingles from reacting with the decking beneath. This underlayment also provides
additional weather protection by preventing the entrance of wind driven rain below the shingles. Unlike the competition
we apply felt underlayment on all of our buildings.
Lastly, let’s talk about the shingles. Having a quality shingle means many years of worry free protection. Most builders
use a 20 year shingle. With our construction, we use a 25 year + shingle.
Adding quality building materials and handmade construction provides the formula for a long lasting enjoyable storage building.
